24 Feb 2007 : I-Women Forum:
Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

The Association of Women Doctors Singapore (AWDS) offered complimentary Candida, carotenoid antioxidants and spinal screening tests to women at the I Women health forum on the seventh day of Chinese New Year, also known as the common man’s birthday.

The event brought together several well-known female speakers from the medical profession to present interesting topics including ‘Healthy Aging, Healthy ‘Self’, Healthy Mind and Healthy Body’.

“The AWDS has chosen the seventh day of Chinese new year to celebrate this joyous occasion with all women. Today as we all grow older together, we also want to ensure that everyone can learn the tips on how to have a healthy body, health mind, health genitals and most importantly age healthily and gracefully!”, said Dr Ann Tan, a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and the Chairperson of the Association of Women Doctors Singapore.

The second year that the event has been organised, AWDS hopes to make use of this health forum to reach out and help more women out there and empower them with essential health information. Besides their main objective of enhancing the professional development and well-being of its members in medical and dental profession by providing a social platform for networking and communication, AWDS also advocates for awareness of cervical cancer and hopes to lobby for the inclusion of the cervical cancer vaccine as part of the “must have” for each young girl in Singapore so that the next generation will be protected.
