28 February 2009 : The Cinderella Ball jointly presented by Singapore Council of Women’s Organizations and Singapore Dance Theatre, Shangri-la Hotel

SCWO co-organised this event with Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT). The Gala was based on the theme of Cinderella which will be SDT’s first major production for 2009 a wonderful production by renowned international choreographer, Graham Lustig.

This partnership between SCWO and SDT has a special significance as both organizations are working towards providing services through education and the arts to enrich the community. SCWO as the national coordinating body of women’s organizations in Singapore runs programmes to advance the status of women in Singapore including a shelter for women and their children who are victim of family violence as well as programmes for the education and enrichment for all women. SDT as Singapore‘s major dance company works towards providing the community with access to ballet and the arts through their school outreach programmes and performances.

The SDT dancers showcased an excerpt from the ballet giving us a wonderful taster into the upcoming production.

It was a fun filled night where 2 of our members – Dr June Goh and Dr Jade Kua modeling for Wykidd Songs Gowns and jewellery, which were later donated at a silent auction in aid of the charity. Also auctioned off was a matching pink sapphire necklace and earrings from Iro + Grace Beautiful Stones designed by our member Dr Iroshini Chua.
