5-6 Feb 2010 : AWDS supports Yong Loo Lin NUS Medical Student Society’s OT3 Biennial Charity Musical.

In continuing to mentor junior doctors and support medical students, AWDS sponsored $1000 for their operational costs, held at the ACJC Centre for Performing Arts. A couple of students had joined as Associate Members of AWDS a year ago.

"Operation Theatre" is a biennial musical produced, written, directed and performed entirely by medical students of the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This year's installment was entitled "Operation Theatre 3: The Elusive Promise" and was the fruit of the efforts of more than 150 medical students across the years. OT3 featured an entirely original script and score and, for the first time ever, a live orchestra!

The musical was staged at the ACJC CPA Theatre on 5th-6th Feb 2010. It was a resounding success, receiving critical acclaim from fellow students, parents, doctors and members of the public alike, and cementing the place of "Operation Theatre" in the tradition of YLLSOM. $34,704.29 was raised for the NUH PatientCare Charity Fund, which seeks to help needy patients who cannot afford medical treatment and do not qualify for the usual avenues of help.
