31 Mar 2010 : SCWO’s 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner.

The SCWO’s 30th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner was attended by more than 400 guests from different SCWO member organisations and corporate supporters. The evening was presided over by Mrs S R Nathan, the Guest-of-Honour and Patron of SCWO.

Held at the Shangri-la Ballroom, the night’s entertainment was an amazing line-up from SCWO’s different member organisations, from belly dancing to ballroom waltzes, contemporary tunes to an electric guitar performance; female talent on display from young ingénues to impossibly hip grandmothers.

Old ties were renewed, new friendships were forged and two more outstanding women leaders were honoured. Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and second Minister for Finance and Transport, and Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports were inducted to the SCWO’s Wall of Fame, joining the ranks of historical female figures that had made fundamental improvements for the women in Singapore.

The fundraising gala raised $300,000 for the newly launched SCWO Service Fund (with IPC and Charity status) and SCWO acknowledged 5 generous women who each contributed $25,000 as part of the Founders Circle - the pioneer donors of the Fund that will be utilised for programmes and projects to better the lives of women in Singapore and their families.

AWDS doctors supported with 1-2 tables @ $5000 each. The SCWO Service Fund was launched to extend aid to Star Shelter, further their work on better Enforcement for Maintenance Orders, CEDAW issues, financial literacy and IT proficiency. A SCWO Commemorative Journal was published, featuring AWDS as one of its member organizations. Dr Ann Tan is the Chairperson of the SCWO Service Fund and will continue to serve on the SCWO board for another 2 years.
